He was an avid lover of all sports but his passion was football.   He received numerous awards and accolades including a state title in 1985 at James Hillhouse High School. The team was inducted into the schools Football Hall of Fame in 2010. His hard work and determination paved the way for him to receive a football scholarship from South Carolina State University where he played under Coach Willie Jefferies.  After graduating from college with a degree in Criminal Justice, he began his career in Law Enforcement with the Department of Mental Health Public Safety.  After his service with the Department of Mental Health, he accepted employment with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.  Currently, he serves and has been for the past several years as the School Resource Officer at Dutch Fork High School.\u003cbr\u003eDeputy Cannon is passionate about his law enforcement career as well as coaching.  He has coached AAU, recreational football and basketball.  He was the head coach of the C team (green team) basketball for the 2005-06 school year where they played for the championship. Currently, he is a member of the football coaching staff and has served as the head basketball coach of the B-Team for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years.  He is involved in coordinating the summer scrimmages, camps, and keeping stats for the varsity program.  In addition to coaching, he has also implemented a chess club at Dutch Fork Middle School.  He spends a great deal of his personal time providing discipline and guidance to students.
